New Program

Newborn Care Basics: Exclusive Breastfeeding

Program Code: 40221

Subscriptions: EmmiEngage, EmmiHealth, Faith-Based EmmiEngage

Program goal:

This program is designed to educate parents on caring for their newborn during the first few weeks of life. It reviews topics such as:

  • Breastfeeding
  • Diapering
  • Newborn sleep patterns
  • Safe sleep
  • Bathing

Modernized Program

Upper GI Endoscopy (EGD)

Program Code: 72

Subscriptions: EmmiEngage, EmmiPrep, Faith-Based EmmiEngage

Main Changes:

  • Revised “Why Do I Need An EGD” (previously “Your Condition”) section to focus on symptoms patients may be experiencing opposed to possible causes of problems
  • Renamed all section headers to be more descriptive
    • ex. instead of “Risk and Benefits”, section is now “What are the Risks of an EGD?”
  • Updated for DE&I considerations
    • Removed gendered language
    • Included more inclusive artwork
  • Created risk menu interactivity in “What are the Risks of an EGD?” section
    • Allows patients to select the risks they’d like to learn more about, shorter sections
  • Removed “Alternatives to EGD” section, is now an “Outro” section
    • UTD recommendation as there are not direct alternatives to getting an EGD

Updated Programs

Newborn Care Basics: Formula Feeding and Breastfeeding 

Program Code: 25363

Subscriptions: EmmiEngage, EmmiHealth, Faith-Based EmmiEngage

Main changes:

  • Edited to align with 2022 American Academy of Pediatrics recommendations for safe sleeping
  • Notes from past Annual Medical reviews and harmonizing with UptoDate content
  • Feedback from Patient Advisory Board: Edited language that they believed was potentially condescending or
  • assumed a certain level of anxiety or worry
  • Made language more inclusive
  • Changed "provider" to "care team" based on patient confusion that "provider" means insurance company

Endoscopic Sinus Surgery

Program Code: 73

Subscriptions: EmmiEngage, EmmiPrep, Faith-Based EmmiEngage

Main changes:

  • Edited language to clarify that the underlying problems associated with sinusitis involve inflammation in the sinuses, instead of focusing on sinus infections alone.
  • Removed mention of Tylenol with Codeine since the medicine is no longer used. Instead, generalized the information around pain medicine after surgery.
  • Removed certain procedures from the Alternatives section because, according to UpToDate, they are rarely offered as alternatives.
  • Updated program to improve inclusivity

Main changes:

  • Updated to match new cervical cancer screening guidelines, giving equal focus to Pap and HPV testing
  • Harmonized content with UTD/CDI
    • Removed language around avoiding sex or using tampons before procedure
  • Updated content with AMR feedback
    • Spelled out acronyms in program
    • Added more comforting language around describing procedure from Cervical Cancer Screening program
    • Added language on telling doctor about any DES exposure
  • Updated program for inclusivity
    • Added more diverse artwork
    • Updated for gendered language
  • Rearranged several lines for better content flow
  • Updated for Emmi standard language
