Postpartum Care (Physical)

Program Code: 28759

Subscriptions: EmmiEngage, EmmiHealth, Faith-Based EmmiEngage

Main changes:

  • Added interactivity to let viewers choose between learning about a vaginal delivery recovery, a C-section recovery, or both
  • Notes from Annual Medical Review (AMR) advisors
  • Notes from UpToDate (UTD) Harmonization review
  • New standard language (removing brand names, etc.)
  • Edited for inclusivity
  • Edited to streamlined language

Postpartum Tubal Ligation

Program Code: 39

Subscriptions: EmmiEngage, EmmiPrep, Faith-Based EmmiEngage

Main changes:

  • Title changed from: Postpartum Tubal Ligation or Salpingectomy to Postpartum Tubal Ligation
  • Harmonization and AMR changes:
    • Adjusted language referring to tubal ligation and salpingectomy. Tubal ligation is a broad term that can include multiple procedures that achieve permanent contraception for people with a uterus and ovaries and salpingectomy is specifically refers to removal of part or all of the fallopian tubes.
    • Updated language about reversibility of the procedure
    • Updated language about salpingectomy’s effectiveness in prevention of ovarian cancer
    • Updated language about birth control use leading up to surgery
    • Removed description of mini-lap procedure because it is not often used for interval tubal ligation
  • “Your Body” and “Your Decision” sections are now identical across both Postpartum and Interval Tubal Ligation programs
  • Updates to improve inclusivity
