Pregnancy Symptoms: 3rd Trimester

Main Changes:

  • Added information about RSV immunizing shots to align with UTD guidelines

Diabetes, Type 2

Main Changes:

  • Harmonized content with UpToDate
  • Edited language around continuous glucose monitors to match recent updates to the Diabetes: Checking Your Blood Sugar When Using Insulin program
  • Setting more appropriate patient expectations by emphasizing efforts to “lower the risk” of serious problems instead of “prevent” them.

Main changes:

  • Added risk of pulmonary artery perforation
  • Included more reasons the procedure may be done
  • Added new standard language throughout program
  • Updated program to improve inclusivity and accessibility

Gestational Diabetes

Program Code: 563

Main changes: 

  • Harmonized content with UTD
    • Changed language around risk factors for gestational diabetes:
      • Phrased weight gain differently
      • Changed age from 25 to 35
      • Added "the more of these categories you fit into, the higher the risk of gestational diabetes"
    • Edited definition of preeclampsia /problems it can cause
    • Made edits to distinguish macrosomia from LGA (large for gestational age)
    • Removed term “a low” (for low blood sugar) throughout
    • Added information about checking baby's blood sugar levels often after birth to reassure parents that this can be monitored/treated
    • Made edits to nutrition/exercise to harmonize with “Patient education: Gestational diabetes (Beyond the Basics)”
    • Included information about possible C-section: “If the baby is very large, your doctor may recommend a C-section to avoid complications like shoulder dystocia that can happen with very large babies during a vaginal birth.”
    • Added additional benefits of breastfeeding for both parent and baby
  • Added information to differentiate GDM from T1 and T2
  • Updated program for inclusivity
    • Added more diverse artwork
    • Updated for accessibility
    • Updated for gendered language
Total Hip Replacement: Full Program

    • Updated reason for possible leg length discrepancy following surgery

  • Removed language around number of incisions made during surgery. Added language around lateral (side) approach to hip replacement.
  • Removed language stating small thigh bone breaks may heal on their own.
  • Updated for DE&I and accessibility considerations
  • Updated for standard language and style
